Accordion serenades, edible histories, and aura readings based on perfume preferences is on the menu tonight at the Contemporary Jewish Museum as part of the MILTON series (a program for whimsy and conceptual exchange that was developed by artist Maria Kalman, whose work is currently on view at the museum).

Author Jane Ziegelman will read from her latest book, 97 Orchard: An Edible History of Five Immigrant Families in One New York Tenement. And, Daniel Handler (AKA Lemony Snicket) will play the accordian for your listening pleasure. But the real pièce de résistance is the artesian perfumery of the renowned Yosh Han

The upper eschelons clammer over feet, groins and faces to get to a bottle of Yosh Han perfume, but being a local maker she often sells samples and tiny oil blend flagrons at small shops. She also makes appearances at neighborhood events (such as giving workshops on say, the perfuming possibilites in the smells of food) and specializes in vibrational perfumery. At the @jewseum she offers intuitive insights about visitors personalities based on the inclinations of her nose.

According to the SFWeekly Yosh Han is a sorceress who will read your desires through the administration of attars and essences, foretelling your destiny….

Having Daniel Handler playing the accordion in the background is really fortuitous overkill and not to be missed!

After this special event RitLab will be on site for the Museum’s After-Work DIY Art-Making series, featuring pickling with instructors Zelig Golden of Wilderness Torah and Renna Khuner-Haber of Hazon, beginning at 6 PM.
