Design rockstar Yves Behar sets out to prove that the consumer is king in his first exhibition as curator at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

Dubbed TechnoCRAFT, the exhibit explores how social networks, open source platforms and open fabrication models have upheaved the fixed shelf object and blurred the lines between consumer and designer. With do-it-yourself modifications and customizations, consumers are now active participants in creative control of the design process, while designers have become experience makers.

The exhibit is split up in sections such as Crowdsourcing, Platforms, Modules, Blueprints, Incompletes and Hacks and the DIY spirit runs rampant all summer, with events such as DIYbca (Sat, Aug 14, 9pm-2am) where you can do it yourself all night.

TechnoCRAFT opens to the public Friday, July 9th with cocktails by Campari and lager by Speakeasy Ale, as well as musical guests Scissors for Lefty.
