Your wish to see art doled out and manufactured through steam engines and giant steel cylinder wheels has come true!

On Sunday, September 19th the hot cement of Potrero Hill will make a fine letterpress bed for San Francisco’s Center for the Book’s 7th Annual Roadworks Steamroller Prints Street Fair. With a three ton construction steamroller on site and the street as their worktable, a team of artists will create a series of large scale linoleum carved block prints.

The fair will take over Rhode Island Street between 16th and 17th Streets an there will be vendor goods and a bazaar of crafts for sale, as well as a children’s art corner and live music and street food. The Center for the Book will also be giving tours of the Austin/Burch Gallery and offering free letterpress mini workshops.

So enjoy an afternoon in the Potrero – where prints and manifestos are best rolled out with traction on tarmac!
